Nerd Dice: Side Story: Thicker than Water

Leythan stays behind in the village of New Keep because he feels responsible to serve the immediate and obvious needs of the remaining inhabitants. His days without the rest of the party are busy, yet peaceful compared to what happened during the past few weeks. After the heaviest damage is repaired and the wounded are healed, Leythan returns to the mining town in the south. The miners and their families have recovered visibly from the disease that ravaged the town only days ago. Among the townsfolk Leythan finds a very capable goldsmith who is able to forge a holy symbol for him.

The paladin feels a new ability in him which is both exciting and frightening. Torm blessed him with the power to channel his divine spirit into the wielding of magic. It takes a while for Leythan to come to control and become comfortable with this gift. Although Leythan's feelings of having found his place in the world deepen, a certain guilt for the way he left his parents behind begins to trouble his mind. He is quite certain that they are all right due to their wealth and good standing in the Impilturian society. But for the first time since he left he sends a letter to them explaining himself. He mentions an address in Elturel to send the reply, which he awaits anxiously before his own letter has had a chance to reach across the Sea of Fallen Stars.
