The Geek Icon

Don't you hate it when you wake up sure that it's the weekend and it's not? Of course on the other hand it's really nice when you wake up thinking it's Monday and it's actually Sunday.

You Know the Feeling...?

You know the feeling when the alarm goes off at 6:50 am, and you think, "But why is the alarm going off that early on Saturday?" And then you wake up a little bit more and realise that it's actually Tuesday, and it's time for you to get up and go to the gym and then rush off to work?

I had that feeling today.

Right now, for those of you folks who read this and are not up on current events in Australia, a lot of people are getting up in arms about new industrial relations legislation that will basically screw over a significant chunk of the work force, even though those keen on the legislation are working real hard to show that's just not true if you jump through this hoop and that hoop and everything will be peachy, and it's good for the economy so shut up and just go along with it!

So in the middle of all that, I ride on a train to work, listening to the cheers of collected protesters as they gather in the park next to Central Station. I really wished I wasn't going to work today.

But to brighten things up, I got a care package from my dad loaded with DVDs. I believe my next arbitrary web project (which may or may not come with actual follow-through) will be to watch these fine gems of cinema and review them here on my weblog.

Stay tuned.

But don't hold your breath.
